In this step by step tutorial I’m going to teach you how to run profitable lead generation campaigns, promoting the best Solar offers from ClickDealer.
ClickDealer is one of the best and most popular CPA networks out there. They have really good lead generation offers that can make you a lot of money, they have the highest payouts, lucrative verticals and an amazing support team always available for your help.
Promoting a good offer which is good for your traffic is very important. If the offer sucks you are not going to make it profitable no matter how hard you try.
So that’s why I always ask my rep at ClickDealer to help me pick the right offer for my traffic type and vertical. So I told him I want to run lead generation offers on native traffic sources.
My rep told me that home service and solar offer are very good right now. Since I already ran home improvement campaigns I chose Solar.
This is my offer:
This offer is US only so I’m going to ask my rep which are the best performing US states and I’m going to target only those.
How To Find The Best Working Ads and Landing Pages
Once we have the offer we are going to promote, it’s time to prepare our ads and landing pages. The fastest and easiest way to see what kind of ads and landing pages are working well in your vertical, is by spying on your competitors using spy tools.
There are many different spy tools for different traffic types, and since we are going to run on Native traffic we are going to use the best spy tool for that which is Adplexity Native.
To find the best ads and landers this is what I do.
Once I logged in I set the date filter to last 30 days.
Next I search for a keyword that is relevant to my offer, in this case ’’Solar’’.
Then I select the target country, which is the USA in this case.
Then finally I sort the ads by receiving the most traffic.
The strategy behind this is that ads that received the most traffic means they spent a lot of money on them, so they were seen by adplexity spy tool many times. That means they are working and most likely profitable.
After that I just go through the results to see the ads and landers they are running and get some ideas for my own ads. Usually the first 10 ads that pop up are the best ones.
Here are some examples:
You can also check which are the most popular Native traffic sources for your offer by scrolling down to the Traffic Sources section in the left sidebar
As you can see right now US solar offers are the most popular on Outbrain and RevContent.
How To Track Your Campaigns
Campaign tracking is extremely important, one of the most important things in affiliate marketing. If you don’t track your campaigns, you are not going to receive important data that is needed to be able to optimise your campaigns.
If you are not optimising your campaigns, you will not be able to make those campaigns profitable.
Because when you are running campaigns your ads will be shown on hundreds of different websites and placements and if you don’t use tracking, you will never know which ones are doing good and which ones are burning your money.
So once again, proper tracking is very important.
My favorite tracking tool out there is RedTrack.
I have tried and tested multiple tracking tools in the past, but I always go back to Redtrack, simply because it’s the best one out there.
Redtrack offers you a 14 days free trial (no cc required) so you can try it without paying anything upfront.
If you need help with setting up Redtrack you can check this step by step tutorial on how to setup everything you need for proper tracking.
How to Launch Your First Native Campaign
Once you set up tracking and prepare your ad texts and images the next step is to launch your campaign on the traffic source you choose.
For this guide we are going to use RevContent which is one of the most popular traffic sources for our vertical.
To get started log in to your RevContent account and click on the Create Campaign Boost button.
Then the first thing you need to do is naming your campaign, select a bid type, daily budget and you can create a conversion pixel if you want.
Next we need to select the traffic type, which is Native, then set the GEO targeting. We are going to target the USA and also upload our list of the top converting zip codes that we got from ClickDealer.
For device targeting I’m going to choose Desktop only for now, then I will launch another campaign for mobile only. It’s important to separate Desktop and Mobile campaigns because the bids are different.
So I’m targeting Desktop, Windows OS only and my target language is English.
Next is the UTM tracking section. If you are using a tracker like Redtrack (which you should) this is where you need to paste the tracking tokens from your Redtrack link.
So go to redtrack, select your campaign and copy the link
Paste it to a notepad, and copy everything that is after the ? in your URL.
This is what you need to paste into the UTM tracking section in Revcontent
Next you need to add your destination URL which is the first part of the link you saved in a notepad.
Then paste it into the Destination URL box
Then your Ad text goes into the Headline box and you need to upload your ad image. After that click submit.
Now you need to wait for the approval team to approve your campaign, and that’s it.
Optimizing Your Campaigns
Once your campaign goes live on RevContent, you need to collect some data first before you can begin optimizing.
I like to wait 1-2 days to ensure I have enough data for adjusting placements and stuff.
Then I start checking reports and start analysing data on the placements.
The first thing I want to do is stop all widgets that spend more than the offer payout without bringing conversions.
I repeat this step regularly every day to get rid of bad placements as soon as possible.
Next I check the creatives.
I started with 5 different ads and now I’m going to compare them and stop the bad performing ones.
Once I find my winning ad I create a few more variations that are very similar and test those too, to see if I can get even better results.
Little adjustments on your ads can make a big difference in the performance of your campaigns.
Scaling Profitable Campaigns
Once your campaign becomes profitable, of course you want to scale it even further. You can start with small adjustments like increasing your daily budget, or increase the bids on your profitable placements.
When you do this you need to monitor your campaigns performance regularly to ensure it remains profitable. If not, try to slightly decrease your bids and see what happens.
What you should also try is to decrease the bids on your average performing placements, and increase on the top performing once.
You should also try to launch a whitelist campaign, targeting ONLY your very best performing placements.
To scale even further try different traffic sources as well. For example you can grab your winning ads and landing pages, and launch new campaigns with the same setting on another native traffic source, like Outbrain or Mgid for example.
